Yolanda Josephine Zamora

Yolanda Josephine Zamora, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Jal, NM. She was born on October 13, 1946 in Morenci, AZ to Julio J. and Emma Helen (Ibarra) Paz. Yolanda married Ramon Zamora on October 12, 1977 in Alamogordo, NM and they shared 41 years together until his passing in 2018.

Yolanda was known as “Yolie” to friends and family. She was a member of the Catholic church where she taught Matachines and catechism. Yolie also worked at Allsup’s. Yolie loved to dance and tell stories. She was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to watch her son, grandson, and great-grandson play football. Yolie was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ramon Zamora; parents: Julio and Emma Paz; and granddaughter: Ayla Anderson.

She is survived by her son: Hanky Aragon of Alamogordo, NM; daughters: Gina Aragon, Sally Bazan, Victoria Douglas and husband Chris, and Stacy Anderson and husband Malik, all of Jal, NM; brothers: Richard Gutierrez and wife Tina of Arizona and Danny Gonzales of California; sisters: Irene Espinoza of Utah and Mary Helen Gutierrez of California; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many family members in Arizona.

A memorial service will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Jal, NM at 9:00 MST on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sam Garcia, Malik Anderson, Keanu Aragon, Anthony Anderson, William “Boo” Douglas, Ethan Sandoval, and Eyan Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers will include Kainin Blankenship, Jay Vidal, Mason Garcia, and Little Malik Anderson.
