Three spots up for November election

By John Earp

Near the end of the July 24th meeting of the Jal School Board, Superintendent Brian Snider gave his monthly report. He began by noting the local election calendar, with three present board members’ seats (Mrs. Jaime Earp, Mrs. Jenny Edwards and Mrs. Kayla Lujan) being up for reelection. The one and only day to enter one’s name at the county courthouse as a candidate for the November election is the 29th of August.

Snider mentioned the six-year study to get test scores up to national levels as something that he has been working on for “six or eight months.” He said it “fits in perfectly with the timeline of where we are, because we’ve got things kind of in place where they need to be, so we can go to the next level.”

Current district projects mentioned were listed. Snider said, “Paving areas are moving along a little bit faster with softball and baseball. Softball will probably be paved first. It’s almost ready to go, so that’s where we’re at with it.”

Snider asked if there were any questions for him from the board. There were none.
