
Rita Morales
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Rita Morales on March 5, 2025, at the age of 88.
Rita was born on July 6, 1936 in Grandfalls, Texas to Guadalupe and Manuel Porras. Rita married Nemesio Morales in Coyanosa Texas on December 18, 1960. She was a loving and supportive wife for almost 65 years. She was an amazing mother to 5 children, devoted grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Guadalupe Porras, siblings Ramona Ochoa, Cora Velazquez, Manuel Porras and Jesus “Chewy” Porras and her precious daughter Jeanna Hernandez and her husband, Pepe Hernandez and a great grandson Samuel Morales.
Rita was known for her unwavering love, compassion, and strength and her unselfishness touched everyone around her. Rita’s gift was baking and cooking, she loved sharing her food with everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Rita was a smart businesswoman and owned 3 different restaurants in her lifetime, The Bullfighter in Monahans Texas, Rita’s Kitchen and El Ranchito in Jal, New Mexico. In the early 80’s Rita received an award for “Business owner of the year” for Lea County.
Rita is survived by her husband, Nemesio Morales of Roswell NM, her children Donnie and Belinda Morales of Glendale, Arizona, Sally and Brent Green of Roswell, NM, Jerry and Cristi Morales of Hobbs NM and George Morales of Phoenix Arizona. Surviving grandchildren are; Monica and Shawn Kelly, Mirey and Allen Ayers, Daniel and Mil Morales, David and Bailey Morales, Mattie Green, Conner Green, Angel and Daisi Lujan, Emily Broughton, Erica Broughton, Adrian Morales, Arianna Morales, Alyssa and Danny Gonzales, Skyler and Vianey, Tyler Morales, Ayanna Morales. Rita was also blessed to have 8 great grandchildren. Rita also had several nieces and nephews who she loved deeply.
Pallbearers for Rita will be; Johnny Ochoa, Frankie Ochoa, Martin Ochoa, Daniel Morales, David Morales, Adrian Morales, Conner Green, Aydan Kelly, Angel Lujan and Tyler Morales.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Jamie and Mandy from Interim Hospice. Susan Martinez, from APS and Dave Martinez, Case Coordinator from Presbyterian, who have been an integral part of Rita getting all of her needs met. The family is forever grateful for all of their love and support.
