Powerlifters Continue to Rank Well in State

The Jal High School Powerlifting Team has been continuing to do well in state rankings. Their next meet will be Saturday March 21st in Lovington. Powerlifters compete in their respective weight class on three lifts; the barbell back squat, deadlift, and bench press.

On the girls’ side, Leilene Chavez is ranked #3 in the 165-pound category, with a total of 645 pounds lifted. Yanira Sauceda is ranked #4 in the 181-pound category, with a total of 625 pounds lifted. Issela Mendoza is ranked #3 in the 198-pound category, with a total of 640 pounds lifted. Ebany Aquilar is ranked #3 in the 220-pound category, with a total of 705 pounds lifted. Issela Mendoza is ranked #4 in the 220-pound category, with a total of 675 pounds lifted.

On the boys’ side, Jesus Munoz is ranked 3rd in the 114-pound class, with a total of 555 pounds lifted. Jayden Walker is ranked #5 in the 181-pound class, with a total of 1010 pounds lifted. Juan Maldonado is ranked #3 in the 275-pound class, with a total of 1130 pounds lifted. The JHS Powerlifting Team is coached by Brent and Kami Satterwhite.
