Oscar L. Castillo

Oscar L. Castillo, age 67, passed away on January 20, 2025 in Odessa, TX. He was born on October 17, 1957 in Ojinaga, MX to Refugio and Manuela (Leyva) Castillo.

Oscar was known as “Chulo” or “Coqueto” to friends and family. He was a very hard-working man with a firm attitude. Oscar had a great sense of humor with a bit of a dark side. He enjoyed working with his hands as a mechanic and carpenter. Oscar also enjoyed cooking, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sons: Lorenzo Chavez of Juarez, MX, Oscar Castillo Jr. and wife Elizabeth Alexander of Kermit, TX, and Christopher Castillo Gonzalez of Ft. Davis, TX; daughters: Maria Rocio Carrillo and husband Ricardo of Odessa, TX and Yadira Cantu and husband Michael of Jal, NM; sisters: Juanita Contreias of Hobbs, NM and Ramona Lara of Tempe, AZ; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents: Refugio and Manuela Castillo; brothers: Jesus Galindo and Domingo Leyva; and sisters: Librada Perez and Manuela Calderon.

A prayer service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 7 pm at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
