Activities/Sports: National Honor Society, the Academic Team, and Rockets 1.

Favorite part of high school: Honestly, my whole high school experience has been a favorite because it was all new to me after coming from Mexico. But if I had to pick, I’d say making friends and having so many opportunities has been the best part.

Biggest positive influences: The biggest positive influences in my life have been my parents. They came from another country to give me a better life, and I’m truly grateful for all the sacrifices they’ve made to give me a brighter future.

Favorite teacher: My favorite teacher at Jal High School was Mr. Willmon. He was the first math teacher I truly learned from. He’s an incredible Math teacher, and I deeply appreciate all the times he guided me through my work. I’ve learned so much from him, especially during my junior year.

Plans after high school: I’m planning to go to New Mexico Junior College first to get my basics done, and then I’ll transfer to a bigger university to start studying radiology.

Advice to younger students: Never give up, especially if you come from another country like I do. Keep your head up, because this country is full of opportunities, you just need to find a way to reach them. Y recuerda, si apenas llegaste a este país, no importa quién seas, hay un camino para ti.
