Notice of Public Open House for the J41, J42, and J43 Transmission Lines

Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS), a subsidiary of Xcel Energy Inc., is proposing to construct and operate three 345kV transmission lines in Lea County, New Mexico, Andrews County, Texas, and Gaines County, Texas, and is seeking input from the public. SPS will host an in-person public open house to discuss the project on Tuesday, February 25 at the Eunice Community Center (906 12th street, Eunice, NM 88231) from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

During the open house, the team will present the proposed project and the preliminary desktop results for natural and cultural resources. The transmission lines will be approximately 51 miles long on New Mexico State Trust Land and privately owned lands.

The J41 line is approximately 6.3 miles long, extending from a proposed Sidewinder Substation located in southwest Gaines County, Texas to the existing Hobbs Gen Substation in Lea County, New Mexico. The J42 line is approximately 6.8 miles long, extending from the proposed Sidewinder Substation to the existing Andrews Substation in northwest Andrews County, Texas. The J43 line is approximately 38.1 miles long, extending from the existing Andrews Substation to the existing Roadrunner Substation in Lea County, New Mexico.
