New Mexico Junior College’s Mu Alpha Theta Chapter Celebrates Inductees in Annual Induction Ceremony 2024
On March 7, 2024, Mu Alpha Theta (MAT), held its once-a-year Induction Ceremony, welcoming exceptional students into its esteemed ranks. The event, held at New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) celebrated the academic achievements and dedication to mathematics of the newest inductees.
Mu Alpha Theta, founded in 1957 by Dr. Richard Andree at the University of Oklahoma, has since grown to encompass over 100,000 talented students in 2500 chapters across the United States and foreign countries. The organization’s mission is to inspire a keen interest in mathematics and provide numerous benefits to its members, including contests, an annual National Convention, grants, awards, scholarships, networking, and leadership opportunities.
The Induction Ceremony serves as a testament to Mu Alpha Theta’s commitment to recognizing and fostering excellence in mathematics. It is a culmination of the hard work and dedication of students who have excelled in their academic pursuits.
NMJC’s chapter thrilled to welcome these outstanding students into the Mu Alpha Theta family. Their passion for mathematics and dedication to academic excellence exemplify the values that our organization stands for.
To qualify for national membership, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, while NMJC sets a higher bar for our students at 3.2 GPA, along with superior grades in at least two higher-level math classes. This rigorous criteria ensures that Mu Alpha Theta members are among the best and brightest in the field of mathematics.
