New Mayor, Councilors Sworn In

By John Earp

Tuesday morning, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, the new Mayor was sworn into office. Also sworn in were two new city councilors, Elizabeth “Lisa” Olivas Crispin and Julian Sauceda. Councilor Lorenzo Chacon, who won reelection in November, was sworn in as well. Each swore to uphold the constitution of the United States of America and of the State of New Mexico, and to faithfully discharge their duties to their best of their ability, “so help me God.”

About 35 people attended the ceremony, mostly including family and friends of the new city officials.

After the elected officials had been sworn in, City Manager Wesley Hooper gave instructions regarding training for all elected officials in Santa Fe in January. Refreshments including cake, cherry cobbler, cookies and coffee were served following the ceremony.

A time of prayer for the new mayor and his family for wisdom and strength was held at the Church of God prior to the ceremony at City Hall.
