The Independence Day Parade through Jal was colorful and festive this year, with plenty of candy being tossed to children who eagerly picked up every last piece. Winding down Main St. to Panther, then down Third to the lake, the entire parade lasted al- most 20 minutes, and was a very good display of love for the Unit- ed States of America on its 247th birthday. The weather was warm at 10:00 am, but not too hot as long as you were in the shade. Numerous booths and trailers were set up at Jal Lake. The fireworks display at the lake beginning at 9:00 p.m. was super, as has been the case for the past several years.
