John “Tony” Anthony Savoie
John “Tony” Anthony Savoie, 74, of Jal, New Mexico, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1951 in Kermit, TX to Herman J. and Meredith Alice (Teel) Savoie. On July 10, 1971, he married the love of his life, Nancy Carman, in Jal, New Mexico. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.
John was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandkids and simply known as Tony to his friends and family. He was a man of unwavering faith, strong character, and deep devotion to his family. Tony was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jal, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons. He loved his church family and faithfully served the Lord throughout his life, always leading by example with humility, kindness, and a servant’s heart.
Above all else, Tony treasured his family. They were the greatest joy and proudest accomplishment of his life. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren and was especially grateful to have the privilege of working alongside them over the years, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Tony enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course, working with his tools, playing his guitar, and enjoying the outdoors through hunting and fishing. Whether building something with his hands, sharing stories with family, or lending a helping hand to a friend, Tony’s quiet strength, dependable nature, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone around him.
His legacy of faith, love, hard work, and dedication to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with the Lord he faithfully served.
Tony leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and an example of integrity, compassion, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Meredith Savoie and his in-laws: Paul and Mary Carman.
Tony leaves behind his loving wife: Nancy Savoie of Jal, NM; sons: Rusty Savoie of Buchanan Dam, TX and John Savoie and wife Miki of Jal, NM; brother: Terry Savoie of Abilene, TX; sisters: Susie Brown of Albuquerque, NM and Lana Massey and husband Chris of Cedar Park, TX; grandchildren: Garrett Savoie, wife Ashley and their fur baby, Luxx (Tony’s little buddy that brought him much joy), Colton Paul Savoie and wife Delilah, and Ty Savoie; and one great-grandchild on the way to join the family in February. He also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were brighter because of him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the First Baptist Church of Jal. No services are planned at this time.
