Demolition clears way for new maintenance building

This week, a project that had been in the planning stages for several months began in earnest just south of the Jal School District’s maintenance barn on 1st St. The district plans to build a new bus barn in the property on 1st St., with expanded capacity for mechanical procedures such as oil changes on the district’s busses. An old house which had been empty for several years had been purchased by the district in recent years with the intent being to expand the maintenance department’s facilities, but with all the other major projects underway over these past few years, it took a while before work on the new bus barn/maintenance building.
