Cheer Team takes home two trophies from Roswell

This past Saturday at Goddard High School in Roswell, NM, the Jal High School Cheer Team participated in a cheer competition with school from across the state, including Hobbs, Artesia, Goddard, Roswell, Gadsden, Lovington, Santa Teresa, Chaparral, Bernalillo, Tatum and Ruidoso. Jal took him two second-place trophies from the meet, with the Tatum Lady Coyotes taking first place. Hobbs High School took home first place overall among the largest districts that were represented. Head Cheer Coach Katia Martinez said the judges, who take a certification course in Albuquerque in order to qualify as a cheer judge, offered some helpful constructive feedback for her team.
Jal Cheer has their next meet this January 25th at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, followed by meets on February 22nd in Artesia and March 1st in Hobbs. The New Mexico state cheer championship competition will be held at University of New Mexico March 21st and 22nd.
