Board Tours New Construction

By John Earp

This past Tuesday, Associate Administrator for Jal School District, Dusty Loftis, showed members of the Jal School Board the progress that has been made in the numerous construction projects on district property. These projects include the elementary addition, which will give more classroom space for the growing elementary school; the junior high addition, which will include a spacious commons area for students including new restrooms as well as a state-of-the-art testing center; and the Indoor Athletic Facility, which will provide an indoor sports field, expanded locker room and weightlifting space as well as an indoor walking track. The elementary addition is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of next school year, while the junior high addition will likely be ready for occupancy a year after that. Board members present for the tour included President Jim Gooss, Vice President Amy Crawford, Secretary Jaime Earp, and board member Randy Chavez. Superintendent Brian Snider and Technology Director Shelley Snow also were present for the tour.
