Earp and Snider Attend Regional School Board Meeting

The New Mexico School Boards Association (NMSBA) held its Fall Region VI Meeting in Eunice, New Mexico, this past Monday, September 21, 2026. Hosted concurrently with the monthly local Eunice Public Schools regular board meeting, the gathering brought together educational leaders, board members, and superintendents from across southeastern New Mexico to discuss regional policy, administrative coordination, and local district updates. From Jal School District, Board Secretary Jaime Earp and Superintendent Brian Snider attended, though all board members had been encouraged to attend.
The event was part of the NMSBA Fall Region Meetings series, an annual circuit allowing school governance bodies to align ahead of statewide legislative assemblies. Region VI represents public school districts across the southeastern quadrant of the state. Leaders focused heavily on coordinating shared educational challenges, including navigating state funding models and optimizing local resources.
A central highlight of the district alignment in this corner of the state remains the ongoing collaboration between neighboring communities. The meeting reinforced the recent Memorandum of Understanding between Eunice School District and Jal School District with regard to their joint Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, a dual-district initiative aimed at expanding trade and vocational infrastructure for local students.
A highlight of the Region IV NMSBA Meeting was the presentation by the students enrolled in the Certified Medical Assistant class held on the Eunice High School campus, with Earp and Snider being shown the facilities at Eunice High which house the Certified Medical Assistant course. This semester, a total of 13 students from Jal attend the three vocational classes being offered at Eunice High School, while a similar number of Eunice students are taking vocational classes at Jal High School. Courses taught at Jal High School include Oil & Gas, Welding, and Culinary. Courses taught at Eunice High School include FFA, Certified Medical Assistant, and Digital Technology.
