JV Boys Basketball Team Loses to Cloudcroft
By John Earp
Monday afternoon in the Panther Gym, the Jal High School Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Team took on the Cloudcroft Bears. The first quarter got off to a slow start, but with some solid layups by Zaine Vega, by the end of the first period, the Panthers had pulled ahead 12 to 9. At halftime, the Panthers were leading by one point, 16 to 15. The Cloudcroft Bears’ coach apparently was able to powerfully motivate his team in the locker room, as was evident by the marked change in momentum during the second half of the game. Cloudcroft steadily pulled ahead of the Panthers, especially in the fourth quarter. The final score was 39-28, with the Panthers being taken down by the Bears.
