New Mexico Junior College Hosts Successful Discover Day
New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) opened its doors to high school juniors and seniors for an exciting and informative Discover Day on Friday March 8, 2024. The event aimed to introduce prospective students to the NMJC campus and showcase the opportunities available to them. With a fun-filled agenda, attendees were treated to a day of exploration, engagement, and entertainment.
Discover Day kicked off in the Caster Activity Center (CAC), where students gathered for registration and presentations. Excitement filled the air as attendees received goodie bags and were greeted by enthusiastic presenters, games, and giveaways.
The festivities continued as The Vice President of Workforce Development Steve Sauceda led the crowd through a series of entertaining games, keeping the energy levels high. Presentations by Advising Coaches Leah Wagner and Karla Castanon as well as Professor of English Dallas Hulsey provided valuable insights into life at NMJC and the academic programs offered.
After, students made their way to the BAC Patio for the college fair. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with department booths, enjoy food trucks, and participate in various games and activities. The highlight of the day came when grand prizes were announced, adding an extra element of excitement to the event.
With nearly 700 students from across the area in attendance, Discover Day proved to be an incredibly impactful event. The positive feedback received underscores the hard work and dedication put forth by all involved. “We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with this event.” said Recruiter Brittney Garcia.
